Social Prescribing: Celebrating and Sustaining Throughout the Island

The all-Ireland Social Prescribing Conference was held in the beautiful city of Derry on June 23-24 and was attended by almost 200 people from throughout the island, including Minister Frank Feighan TD and Minister Robin Swann MLA, who opened and closed the event. It became a timely and enjoyable occasion, providing quality time for those involved or interested in social prescribing to pause, reflect and replenish. The conference created an excellent opportunity for social prescribers, project managers, strategists and beneficiaries to gather and consider how such a wonderful social mechanism could be deepened and widened to benefit more who need it. The people’s individual stories of mental health recovery and reconnecting were truly riveting! While our society continues to reel from the impact of Covid-19, it is vital that the rebuild process places people at the heart of services and service design. There was no better place to do this than Derry. Thanks to all who helped plan and to all who contributed towards it success. Míle buíochas daoibh go léir!
